Special City Council Minutes <br /> Apri123, 2018 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Jason Baca asked for a show of hands of the people that are unsatisfied <br /> with the decisions that the City Council has made. <br /> Dean Brandt stated that his issue is with members of the City Council that <br /> have never come in to his store to ask his opinion on anything. <br /> Douglas Leckband addressed the public and stated that he has owned his <br /> business in Pequot Lakes since August and he would like to see the Park <br /> Project succeed. <br /> Dr. Michelle Lelwica asked how the Trailside Park Project went from being <br /> funded by donations and fundraisers to making taxpayers responsible for , <br /> it. <br /> Kathy Trees inquired about the relocation of the Veteran's Memorial ', <br /> walkway stones. ', <br /> Dan Ronning stated the business owners didn't get involved when they � <br /> needed to. <br /> Chad Nelson stated the Park is beautiful the way it is and improving it will <br /> not improve the equity of the businesses. Mr. Nelson added that he would <br /> like to see the Project slowed down. <br /> Barb Memtt stated she has attended three of the four community input <br /> meetings and makes sure she knows what is going on in town. , <br /> Ryan Buell showed concem about the closing of a section of Patriot I' <br /> Avenue stating that there will be unintended consequences. <br /> Maury Graham stated that we are all trying to be part of a solution that <br /> takes different shapes and forms. Mr. Graham added that he joined the <br /> Park Commission to help the community. <br /> Chad Swenson noted that a splash pad may have been a good idea <br /> several years ago but are no longer popular and the ongoing maintenance <br /> is very expensive. Mr. Swenson added the "Bobber" is what makes this <br /> town well known. <br /> Kirk Larson presented a petition with 1,203 signatures requesting that <br /> Patriot Avenue not be closed down. Mr. Larson stated the City Council <br /> needs to slow down the Park Project. <br />
