Park Commission Minutes <br /> May 10,2018 <br /> Page 2 <br /> ------------------------- <br /> Chair Ronning asked the Commission to discuss their concems with traffic issues <br /> that occurred at the Special City Council Meeting on April 23, 2018 regarding <br /> Trailside Park Phase 1. <br /> Discussion ensued among the Commissioners regarding traffic concems, not <br /> enough parking on Govemment Drive, the difficulty for semi/delivery trucks and <br /> fifth wheel trailers ability to maneuver streets around the park, dangers for <br /> pedestrians and the ability for people to get into and out of town easily. <br /> Chair Ronning stated that the Park Commission has gr�at concems regarding <br /> safety and would like the City Council to provide them in#ormation regarding all <br /> plans for streets around the Trailside Park so the Gommission can provide <br /> feedback on the plans. <br /> 6. Review 2018 Citv Work Plan <br /> Dawn Bittner stated the City Administrator will be contacting all Commissions and <br /> Committees regarding the 2018 City Work Plan. The Trailside Park Project, <br /> establish temporary& long-term skatepark plan, establish WiFi for Trailside Park, <br /> install irrigation system in south side of Trailside Park, and review and update <br /> recreation section of City Comprehensive Plan are all tasks for the Park <br /> Commission to accomplish. <br /> 7. Skatepark— updat� <br /> Chair Ronning stated we cannot go any further with plans until a site is <br /> determined. <br /> 8. Roundabouts Landscapinq - Update <br /> Dawn Bittner gave the Commission the preliminary plans for the east and west <br /> roundabouts and plateau. Commissioner Johnson brought up if a possible <br /> "Welcome to Pequot Lakes" sign is placed on the plateau, MN/DOT will have to <br /> plant shorter shrubbery. Commissioner Graham asked if a possible large <br /> American Flag along with the Welcome to Pequot Lakes sign could be placed <br /> there. East and West roundabouts had no real concems. Trees will be placed for <br /> helping with snow and blowing. Todd Carroll of MN/DOT is available on May 16, <br /> 2018 at 10:00 a.m. The City Administrator asked the Landscape Committee to <br /> attend. We will post the meeting for a possible quorum and will notify <br /> Commission via email. <br /> 9. Next Meetinp -Attendance <br /> Dawn Bittner asked if all were available for next Park Commission meeting on <br /> June 14, 2018. Chair Ronning just reminded the Commission members to <br /> respond to the email. Consensus was there will be a quorum. <br />
