Special City Council Minutes <br /> Apri123, 2018 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Collin Jacobs thanked the Council for the Trailside Park Project stating it is <br /> for the betterment of the community. <br /> 6. City Council Comments <br /> Council Member Pederson stated everyone is here for the same reason <br /> and that is to make Pequot Lakes an ideal place to live, shop and <br /> recreate. Mr. Pederson added that parks are vital to a community <br /> providing economic value, health and environmental benefits, and social <br /> importance. <br /> Council Member Loukota apologized for not visiting the businesses to find <br /> out their opinions on the Trailside Park Project. Mr. Loukota suggested <br /> setting up bamcades to test the consequences of closing Patriot Avenue <br /> and added that the price tag is womsome. ' <br /> Council Member Akerson stated he is not in favor of the Master Plan due <br /> to the splash pad, pond, and the removal of a section of Patriot Avenue. <br /> Mr. Akerson added he is al1 for beautifying the Park but it should be <br /> slowed down. <br /> Council Member Swanson asked everyone to imagine how great this town ! <br /> will be with this new park. Ms. Swanson added that it will bring people to <br /> town and to the businesses. ; <br /> I <br /> Mayor Adams stated she cares very much for the City of Pequot Lakes <br /> and stated the Council Members are all looking to the future betterment of <br /> the entire community. i <br /> � <br /> 7. City Council Decision <br /> MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION OF TRAILSIDE <br /> PARK AFTER LABUR DAY 2018 BEGINNING WITH SIBLEY STREET I <br /> AND GOVERNMENT DRIVE TO BE COMPLETED DURING THE <br /> SUMMER OF 2019. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE I <br /> MOTION. , <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding the timeline of the construction, the <br /> possibility of changing some features of the Park Plan, cost estimates of <br /> the features, fundraising opportunities through the Greater Pequot Lakes <br /> Community Foundation, the impact on property taxes, and the need to <br /> attract people and other businesses to achieve growth in the community. <br />
