April 19, 2010
OWN
Dear Chief,
As we move closer to the application period for the 2010 Assistance to Firefighters
grant, we have noticed an item that was unknowingly overlooked as a part of the
original radio grant request of February 18, 2010. In attending a local grant
workshop, it was discovered that the City of Brainerd, serving as the fiscal agent for
the grant would become responsible for all the radio equipment purchased with the
grant dollars. This is an unreasonable expectation to saddle the City of Brainerd with.
To resolve this issue and allow the application process to move forward, it is
requested that all of the Cuyuna Range Fire Department's associated with the radio
grant, commit through Council action to take responsibility for their entity's
inventory of radio equipment that may be awarded and purchased through the 2010
Assistance to Firefighters Grant. A commitment letter is requested from your entity
as soon as possible, stating this responsibility request.
If the Cuyuna Region is successful and is awarded this regional radio grant, a Memo
of Understanding will be signed by your entity at that time, listing your
responsibility for all equipment purchased at that time through the use of serial
numbers.
Please email or fax your commitment letter as soon as possible to Elaine at
ekraemer@ci.brainerd.mn.us or fax to 218 - 828 -2331. Thank you for your prompt
attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
CITY OF BRAINERD
Keith Bachman
Acting Fire Chief
/ek
M
