Your letter requested a lower
speed limit on Highway 371, from 55 mph to 35 mph near the new Super Valu Store.
Our preliminary investigation indicates lowering the speed to 35 mph on this section of road may
not be feasible. At this time, it is difficult to ascertain the proper speed limit as development traffic
is nonexistent. We understand a gas station and Super Valu are set to open sometime in May or
June.
Once the development is open to traffic, we will return to conduct a final study to determine the
appropriate speed limit for the area. It is our belief that the existing 55 mph zone may need to be
reduced once the new traffic pattern develops.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Tom Dumont, our district traffic engineer, at
320 - 223 -6540.
Sincerely,
Bob Busch
District Engineer
cc: Tom Dumont
An Equal Opportunity Employer
0 0 0;
