POLICE
218 - 568 -8111
Fax 218 - 568 -5647
plpd @pequotlakes - mn.gov
April 6, 2010
Mayor and City Council Members;
QEOpUO
il1'w I
'my✓N
JERRY BRAAM
Chief of Police
4638 County Road 11
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
I forgot to include in my monthly report the re- certification training that Officer Gartner
and K9 Shadow attended 2 weekends ago in New Ulm.
Josh and Shadow took 2 "d overall in the "in- door" search category and received a nice
trophy for their efforts. There was a total of 63 dogs re- certifying from around Mn.
The certification has two parts to it, one is the in -door search and the other is an out -door
search. The dogs and officer are scored in many areas from "narcotic finds" to how the
dog responds to the officers commands as well as how long it takes the dog to find all the
narcotic hides.
Out of a possible score of 200 points, Gartner and Shadow received 196 points. This
placed them 57th out of 63 teams.
From having competed in these kinds of competitions /re- certifications over the years, I
can tell you that this score is quite an accomplishment.
Their scores are as follow:
Indoor Search 97.33 pts Time of 3:24 Allotted time was 10:00 minutes
Outdoor Search 98.67 pts Time of 4:45 Allotted time was 10:00 minutes
C>1 _>_
