PEQUOT LAKES <br />PARK COMMISSION <br />THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2010 <br />CITY HALL <br />Members Present: Chair Tweed, Commissioners, Jurchen, Johnson, and, <br />Clement <br />Members Absent: Commissioner DenHartog <br />Also Present: Council Member Malecha; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Chuck <br />Marohn, City Planning Consultant <br />Call Meeting to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Tweed <br />2. Approve Park Commission Minutes <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON TO APPROVE <br />THE NOVEMBER 12, 2009, PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. <br />COMMISSIONER JURCHEN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 4 -0. <br />3. Discussion on City's Comprehensive Plan <br />Chuck Marohn — update on comp plan process. He stated that the <br />Planning Commission would like to receive input from the Park Board on <br />the Recreation and Natural Resources Sections of the Comp Plan. He <br />explained that the Park Board should look at the future park and <br />recreation needs of the City. Discussion was held regarding lack of <br />funding. Chuck Marohn explained that the vision and planning for the <br />future must come first. <br />The Park Commission talked about the use of lakes in the area for private <br />resident use. Discussion was also held regarding the possibility of having <br />a skating rink in the City. Also discussed was the need for more <br />playground equipment. <br />4. Bands in the Park <br />Cathy Malecha talked about the bands in the park. She stated that she <br />has booked many bands and reviewed the schedule with the Park <br />Commission. She indicated that the cost for the bands so far is $800 over <br />budget. She indicated that she would be asking for donations to cover this <br />overage. Discussion was held regarding the remodeling of the Gazebo. <br />
