i City Council Minutes � December 5,2017 � Page 7 of 13 II ----------------------------- � Mike Loven inquired if there is a water volume projection and how the City will supply this much water. He noted that the pond alone is a half-acre in size and this will equate to a lot of water usage. Nancy Malecha presented information she received from SAS+ Associates regarding the ongoing maintenance of a pond versus no pond. Ms. Malecha added that she inquired if the City could add the pond at a later date and this is possible but it is inefFcient. Mayor Adams added that a sport field could be put at the pond location instead. Council Member Pederson stated that there are tons of parks that have ponds and believes if the pond is pulled out at this time it would disappoint a lot of people. Mike Loven stated his concern about keeping people off the pond when the ice is too thin and noted there would be a lot of temporary fencing in place for the winter months. Council Member Akerson added that he agrees with the Fire Department and open water is not a good thing with kids around. Council Member Akerson would like to see a sport field in the summer and a skating rink in the winter. ON A ROLL CALL VOTE: COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON — NAY; COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA—AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON —AYE; COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON —AYE; MAYOR ADAMS—AYE. MOTION CARRIED 4-1. • Flag Display COUNGIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO ACCEPT FLAG DISPLAY OPTION 1 WITH FLAGS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WALKING PATHS. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. • S�lash Pad COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON MOVED TO ACCEPT THE SPLASH PAD OPTION 1 WITH A FLOWING WATER/RIVER FEATURE AND MORE SEATING AROUND THE OUTSIDE. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-1. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON OPPOSED.
