Special City Cou.ncil Minutes
November 21, 2017
-----------------------------
Council Members Akerson and Swanson noted their concern with the
reduction in the police budget. Ms. Malecha explained she and Sergeant
Turcotte discussed where the reductions could be made without causing
an impact. Ms. Malecha added there is a healthy fund balance to help pay
for the unplanned expenses.
Council Member Pederson expressed his concern with losing more police
contracts and suggested, in the future, the City look into the possibility of
sharing police vehicles and not allowing police officers to bring the police
vehicles home. Ms. Malecha explained that if the City was to lose another
police contract then the Council would be approached at that time to
amend the budget.
COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON MOVED TO ACCEPT THE
PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE 2018 PRELIMINARY BUDGET AND
DIRECTS STAFF TO PRESENT THIS UPDATED INFORMATION AT
THE DECEMBER 5T" TRUTH IN TAXATION COUNCIL MEETING.
COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
Mayor Adams requested clarification on the discussion that took place at
the last City Council meeting regarding Wildlife Trail and North Sluetter
Road. Mayor Adams noted that Wildlife Trail is a private road and if the
City was to make it a City street then any improvements would be paid for
by the City. Council Member Pederson added that the City may have to
start assessing property owners for street improvements since it would be
adding value to their property.
Nancy Malecha indicated that she received an email from Michael Czech
stating that he and Maury Graham are working on an assessment solution
for North Sluetter Road and Wildlife Trail and asked the Council how they
would like her to respond.
The consensus of the Council agreed to have Mr. Graham and Mr. Czech
continue working on their solution to present to the Council for future
discussion.
4. Adjournment
There being no further business, COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON
MOVED TO ADJOURN. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED
THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
