SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2017 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Mem6ers Present: Mayor Adams, Council Members Akerson, Loukota, <br /> Pederson, and Swanson <br /> Staff Present: Nancy Malecha, City Administrator/Clerk; Deb Marty, Deputy <br /> City Clerk; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Specialist; Chad Turcotte, <br /> Police Sergeant; <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Adams called the special meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council <br /> to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> 1.1 Pledge of AlleQiance <br /> Mayor Adams led with the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> 2. Consider A enda <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA <br /> AS PRESENTED. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0 <br /> 3. 2018 Preliminarv Budget Work Session <br /> Mayor Adams stated th� goal set at the November Council meeting was to <br /> increase the tax rate to no greater than 1°/a. <br /> Nancy Malecha reviewed the 2018 recommended budget changes to the <br /> tax levy funds. Ms. Malecha indicated the Council had approved a 2018 <br /> Preliminary General Revenue Tax Levy of$1,677,050 at the September <br /> Council meeting which was an increase of$95,227 (2.874% tax rate <br /> increase). Ms. Malecha presented recommended changes to the 2018 <br /> Preliminary General Revenue Tax Levy which equate to a decrease of <br /> $53,400 and a levy of$1,623,650. This decreased the levy increase <br /> amount from $95,227 to $41,827 which resulted in a tax rate increase of <br /> 0.999%. <br />
