Economic Development Commission Minutes <br /> October 17, 2017 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 3. Review Economic Development section of the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> 5. Thriving Communities Initiative Update <br /> The Executive Committee will meet tomorrow morning where they will discuss the <br /> Community Founda.tion and the Patriot Foundation. The slogan has been decided and <br /> they are waiting for additional concepts on a logo and plan to get the logo registered. <br /> T'he website and the Facebook page are up and running. They are looking into a <br /> video promoting Pequot Lakes. <br /> 6. School Update <br /> The Patriot Foundation continues to grow; 2 trainings have taken place. The Board <br /> has been esta.blished at 7 members and are still looking for 2 more members. The <br /> School is in negotiations with the bazgaining units. Homecoming was great. <br /> 7. Chamber Upda.te <br /> No update given. <br /> 8. BLAEDC Update <br /> Chair Jurchen congratulated BLAEDC on the Unified Fund with$1.5 million <br /> allocated toward it. The Unified Fund provides gap financing. <br /> Sheila Haverkamp stated that Chris Monroe has been an Exec with BLAEDC and <br /> working for BLAEDC and will be an asset to Pequot Lakes. <br /> 9. City of Jenkins Update <br /> Commissioner Lubke stated Veterans Park has new playground equipment. <br /> 10. Other Business <br /> Dawn Bittner informed the Commissioners that Nancy Malecha.will be unable to <br /> attend the Broadband meeting October 25—26 at Maddens and asked for one <br /> volunteer to attend. Commissioner Lubke will be attending representing the City of <br /> Jenkins. <br /> Chair Jurchen sta.ted next year will likely be his last on the EDC. Members need to <br /> be looking for new members. The Comprehensive Plan indicates involving people in <br /> financial institutions; we should get local bank representatives involved again. We , <br /> need people who are vested in the community, business people. Mayor Adams <br /> pointed out that both First National Bank and Wells Fargo aze branch banks. <br /> 11. Adjourn <br />
