A use that would not be classified as Retail /Other in the Commercial zone would require
..- a Conditional Use Permit because of the Matrix. Parking would be dealt with as part of
the CUP process.
Shared parking will be considered on a case by case basis as determined by the Planning
Commission. Staff was directed to inform applicants that it would be considered and it
should be brought to the Planning Commission. Parking less than the minimum would
require a Variance. This could be discussed at a Design Review Team meeting.
All members voted "aye ". Motion carried.
ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS TO AGENDA:
Delete Sign Concept Plan under New Business.
OPEN FORUM: None.
NEW BUSINESS: None.
OLD BUSINESS:
a. Comprehensive Plan Discussion
Community Character Section:
Mr. Marohn stated that no changes had been requested. On page 3, Social Gathering
Events, the GLAPA and the Public Library should also be acknowledged. Lines 16 and
17, the word "provide" is used twice in the sentence. The Cherry Car Show should also
be added. The healthcare facility located in a rural area, Heritage House, could also be
added. It may also be in the Housing Section.
Natural Resources Section:
Mr. Marohn explained that the source for the information included in the current Plan
was from the DNR National Heritage data base for threatened and endangered species
list. Councilman Nagel stated that he had spoken with a few area residents and back in
the 1930's there were some Prairie Chickens west of town, but there have been maybe 2
sightings in 20 years. These residents doubted no one would see a Prairie Chicken within
the city limits of Pequot Lakes.
Councilman Nagel further stated that the Tree Farm Program is important with Potlatch
beginning to sell more forest land. The City could encourage private landowners to
enroll in the Tree Farm Program. The amount of forest is steadily shrinking and to keep
the resource growing will depend on private ownership.
Minutes 7
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
December 17, 2009
