At this location, there is a 36 feet wide curb and guttered street going into the Business
/Industrial Park area. The improvements would proceed north to where the new 4-lane Highway
371 project tied into the present County Road (CR) 112. These new improvements consist of a
ditch-lined roadway with finro 12 feet wide travel lanes and finro 4 feet wide paved shoulders for a
total width of 32 feet.
The distance from the south leg of Rae Avenue to the Main Street 4-way Stop is about 2,600
feet or about 1/2 miles. The distance from the Main Street 4-way Stop to the new improvements
on CR 112 is about 2,800 feet or just a little over 1/2 miles.
The existing roads' pavement is on the tail end of its useful life, consist of two driving lanes
totaling about 24 feet wide, and minimal to non-existent shoulders. There are no sidewalks or
trails, and no storm drainage collection systems. The City will also be receiving monies from
Crow Wing County as part of the Tumback Agreement for improvements to Rasmussen Road
north of the Main Street 4-way Stop ($893,000).
We are recommending the City start with a Preliminary Layout Plan effort to determine the level
of improvements (shoulders, parking lanes, sidewalks/trails, sanitary sewer and water utilities,
stormwater collection and discharge/infiltration basins, street lights, etc.)truly desired.
We would provide a strip map based on publicly available mapping and contours showing
concept level improvements. We would also provide a per-foot-based construction and project
cost estimate.
We would need to meet with a committee of the City during this process. We believe two
meetings should be sufficient. Besides Staff, we would recommend no more than two Council
Members.
We can provide these above services for a lump sum amount of$9,250.
We anticipate this work can be completed within 60 days.
Engmeering Architecture Sun•eying Frivironmental
