City Council Minutes <br /> January 5, 2010 <br /> Page 2 of 10 <br /> � ----------------------------- <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> No one was present for Open Forum. <br /> 5. Presentations <br /> Roger Lynn, Executive Director of Lakes Area Restorative Justice <br /> Program (LARJP), updated the Council on the program which offices out <br /> of the Pequot Lakes City Hall. Mr. Lynn stated that the program has been <br /> in operation for 3 '/ years and has dealt with about 300 cases. He noted <br /> that these 300 cases have saved the courts about $413,000. Mr. Lynn <br /> stated that restitution through the program is about 90%. He thanked the <br /> Council for allowing the program to use office space at City Hall and <br /> stated that Pequot Lakes is playing a major role in the project. <br /> The City Clerk noted that the City provides heat, rent, electricity and <br /> phone service for the program. She stated that the LARJP provides all <br /> office supplies. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO WAIVE THE RENT, HEAT, <br /> AND ELECTRICITY FOR THE LARJP PROGRAM. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> `-' NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN AMENDED THE MOTION TO STATE THAT <br /> THIS BE AN ANNUAL REVIEW BY THE COUNCIL TO EVALUATE THE <br /> PROGRAM LOCATION AT CITY HALL AND CITY HALL SPACE <br /> NEEDS. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 6. Planninq and Zoning Department Monthlv Report <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 6.1. Planninq Commission Report <br /> Report received by Council. <br /> 6.1A. Ordinance Amendments and Updating of New State Statutes <br /> Chuck Marohn explained that once a year the City conducts a public <br /> hearing to clear up minor issues with the Ordinances and to update the <br /> ordinances to reflect changes in state law. He noted that modifications <br /> '�-- have been made to Chapter 17, Sections 4.3, 11.2, 11.6, 11.7, 11.8, and <br /> 11.9. <br />
