ity a'
Put

NEW BUSINESS—RENTAL PROPERTY ORDINANCE
Agenda Item: 6 (c)
Background Information: At their June 6, 2oi meeting, the City Council
directed the Planning Commission to research a Rental Housing Ordinance to
establish a minimum standard for rental units to make rental homes safe for
occupants.
I spoke with the Housing Inspector for the City of Brainerd. They use the
International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC). Brainerd has 2,60o rentals
and they inspect them every 3 years. The IPMC can be viewed at
bremenvillage.com.
The City of Little Falls also has a Rental Housing Maintenance Code. A copy of
this Code is a separate attachment.
Planning Commission Directiton: Please come prepared to begin
discussion on a rental property ordinance. We hope to have an ordinance in
place by March.
Pequot Lakes Staff Report 6(c)-i
October i9,2oi
