Request to Purchase Snowplow/Dump Truck <br /> I <br /> Nancy Malecha presented the Public Works request to purchase a ! <br /> snowplow/dump truck utilizing the State Cooperative Purchasing Venture. '�, <br /> Ms. Malecha noted that it takes nine months from order to delivery and ' <br /> this vehicle will be needed to plow snow for the 2018 winter season. One <br /> � <br /> stipulation to this vehicle purchase is that the Public Works Department I <br /> will need an additional employee to operate this vehicle as current staff <br /> cannot accommodate this. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE I' <br /> ORDERING AND PURCHASE OF A SNOWPLOW/DUMP TRUCK '� <br /> UTILIZING THE STATE COOPERATIVE PURCHASING VENTURE TO � <br /> BE PAID FROM THE HIGHWAY 371 CAPITAL OUTLAY BUDGET AND <br /> SUBJECT TO THE HIRING OF AN ADDITIONAL PUBLIC WORKS <br /> EMPLOYEE IN JULY OF 2018. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council Member Pederson questioned if another full-time employee is <br /> warranted or if the City could utilize a part-time employee or contracted � <br /> service for snowplowing. <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding work duties for the additional <br /> employee and the separation of the truck purchase from the hiring of an <br /> employee. <br /> Nancy Malecha stated that she and Mike Loven do not feel comfortable <br /> with Council approval of the truck purchase without a plan for personnel to <br /> operate this vehicle. <br />
