City Council Minutes September 5, 2017 Page 6 of 10 ----------------------------- COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE HIRING OF GANSKE'S QUALITY PAINTING TO PAINT THE CHAMBER BUtLDING AT A COST OF $3,950 TO BE PAID FROM THE GENERAL BUILDING BUDGET. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0 COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE HIRING OF GEO'S PAINT � FINISH TO SANDBLAST AND PAINT THE FRONT OF THE CITY HALL BUILDING AT A COST OF $6,950 TO BE PAID FROM THE GENERAL BUILDING BUDGET AND FUND BALANCE. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 9.3.C. Request to Purchase Snowplow/Dump Truck I Nancy Malecha presented the Public Works request to purchase a ! snowplow/dump truck utilizing the State Cooperative Purchasing Venture. '�, Ms. Malecha noted that it takes nine months from order to delivery and ' this vehicle will be needed to plow snow for the 2018 winter season. One � stipulation to this vehicle purchase is that the Public Works Department I will need an additional employee to operate this vehicle as current staff cannot accommodate this. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE I' ORDERING AND PURCHASE OF A SNOWPLOW/DUMP TRUCK '� UTILIZING THE STATE COOPERATIVE PURCHASING VENTURE TO � BE PAID FROM THE HIGHWAY 371 CAPITAL OUTLAY BUDGET AND SUBJECT TO THE HIRING OF AN ADDITIONAL PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE IN JULY OF 2018. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE MOTION. Council Member Pederson questioned if another full-time employee is warranted or if the City could utilize a part-time employee or contracted � service for snowplowing. Council discussion ensued regarding work duties for the additional employee and the separation of the truck purchase from the hiring of an employee. Nancy Malecha stated that she and Mike Loven do not feel comfortable with Council approval of the truck purchase without a plan for personnel to operate this vehicle.
