Citv of Pequot Lakes Citv of Pepuot Lakes Personnel Policies <br /> Title: Work Rules and Conduct Effective Date: [date adopted] <br /> Effective Date(s)ofAmendment(s): <br /> This policy does not preclude the City from administering discipline for unexcused absences of <br /> less than three (3) days. <br /> Non-exempt employees(eligible for overtime pay) are not authorized to take work home or <br /> work through lunch without prior approval from their supervisor. <br /> 17.3 Access to and Use of City Property <br /> Any employee who has authorized possession of keys,tools, cell phones, pagers,or other City- <br /> owned equipment must register his/her name and the serial number(if applicable) or <br /> identifying information about the equipment with his/her supervisor. All such equipment must <br /> be turned in and accounted for by any employee leaving employment with the City in order to <br /> resign in good standing. <br /> Employees are responsible for the security and safekeeping and care of all such equipment. <br /> The duplication of keys owned by the City is prohibited unless authorized by the City <br /> Administrator. Any employee found having an unauthorized duplicate key will be subject to <br /> disciplinary action. <br /> Employees are prohibited from using City property for personal purposes, except for the limited <br /> exceptions addressed in other policies herein. <br /> 17.4 Appearance <br /> Departments may establish dress codes for employees as part of departmental rules. Personal <br /> appearance should be appropriate to the nature of the work and contacts with other people <br /> and should present a positive image to the public. Clothing,jewelry or other items that could <br /> present a safety hazard are not acceptable in the workplace. Dress needs vary by function. <br /> Employees who spend a portion of the day in the field need to dress in a professional manner <br /> appropriate to their jobs, as determined by their supervisor. <br /> 17.5 Conflict of Interest <br /> City employees are to remove themselves from situations in which they would have to take <br /> action or make a decision where that action or decision could be a perceived or actual conflict <br /> of interest. If an employee has any question about whether such a conflict exists he/she should <br /> consult with the City Administrator. <br /> More guidance related to conflicts of interest follows. <br /> 17.5.1 Gifts Prohibited <br /> Employees in the course of or in relation to their official duties shall not directly or indirectly <br /> receive or agree to receive any personal payment of expense, compensation,money, real or <br /> personal property,a service, a loan, a forbearance or forgiveness of indebtedness,gift, <br /> 49 <br />
