Citv of Pequot Lakes Citv of Pequot Lakes Personnel Policies <br /> Title: Holidays Effective Date: [date adopted] <br /> Effective oate(s)of Amendment(s): <br /> SECTION 9 HOLIDAYS <br /> The City observes the following ofFicial holidays for all regular full-time and part-time <br /> employees: <br /> New Year's Day Labor Day <br /> Martin Luther King,lr. Day Veteran's Day <br /> President's Day Thanksgiving Day <br /> Memorial Day Friday after Thanksgiving Day <br /> Independence Day Christmas Day <br /> Official holidays commence at the beginning of the first shift of the day on which the holiday is <br /> observed and continue for twenty-four(24) hours thereafter. <br /> When a holiday falls on a Sunday,the following Monday will be the "observed" holiday and <br /> when a holiday falls on a Saturday,the preceding Friday will be the "observed" holiday for <br /> City operations/facilities that are closed on holidays. <br /> Full-time employees will receive pay for official holidays for the calendar day that it is <br /> observed by the City at their normal straight time rates, provided they are on paid status on <br /> the last scheduled day prior to the calendar day that the holiday is observed by the City and <br /> first scheduled day immediately after the calendar day that the holiday is observed by the <br /> City. Part-time employees will receive pro-rated holiday pay based on the number of hours <br /> normally scheduled. Any employee on a leave of absence without pay from the City is not <br /> eligible for holiday pay. <br /> Full-time employees will also receive two (2) additional personal leave days per year that <br /> they can use as paid days off when approved by their supervisor. Part-time employees will <br /> receive a pro-rated number of equivalent additional holidays per year based on the number <br /> of hours normally scheduled. <br /> Premium pay of 1.5 times the regular hourly wage for employees required to work on a <br /> holiday will be for hours worked on the "observed" holiday as opposed to the "actual" <br /> holiday. <br /> Employees wanting to observe holidays other than those officially observed by the City may <br /> request vacation leave or compensatory time for such time off. <br /> 17 <br />
