No.: <br /> 2qo22�ao5SA0004 <br /> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br /> The following memorandum briefly addresses the process we recommend the City Council of <br /> the City of Pequot Lakes (City) follow in considering whether to declare the conditions at the <br /> property owned by Carter D. McAninch on County Road 168 (Crow Wing County Parcel I.D. <br /> No.: 290223405BA0009)in the City(the"Properiy")to be a public nuisance and violations of <br /> City Ordinances at a special meeting to be held on October 3, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Currently,junk,construction materials, furniture, abandoned vehicles, a recreational vehicle and <br /> other debris are present in plain sight on the Property, and despite repeated written notifications <br /> and requests to the property owner by City sta.ff, such items and debris have not been removed. <br /> The following background documents,which include quotations from the applicable city <br /> ordinances, are appended hereto for the City Council's reference and consideration in advance <br /> of the special meeting: <br /> • Appendix A: Zoning Specialist letter to Carter D. McAninch, dated May l, 2017; <br /> • Appendix B: Zoning Specialist letter to Carter D. McAninch,dated June 2, 2017; <br /> • Appendix C: Zoning Specialist letter to Carter D. McAninch, dated July 28,2017; <br /> and <br /> • Appendix D: Zoning Specialist letter to Carter D. McAninch, daxed September 15, <br /> 2017. <br /> Staff indicates that the property owner made some effort to remove the debris from the property <br /> following his receipt of the Zoning Specialist's May 1,20171etter,but thereafter made no <br /> additional efforts to bring the Property into compliance with the City Code. Specifically,the <br /> following corrective actions are necessary for the Property to come into compliance with the <br /> City Code: <br /> 1. Removal of the furniture,junk, construction materials, and other debris currently stored <br /> outside; <br /> 2. Removal of the structure that appeats to be falling down; and <br /> 3. Removal of the recreational vehicle and all other unregistered or inoperable vehicles. <br />
