<br /> Background Information: Through the Economy Task Force of the Thriving
<br /> Community Initiative billboard advertising was discussed. Mayor Adams
<br /> brought this to the City Council and at their September meeting the City Council
<br /> directed the Planning Commission to craft a sign ordinance allowing billboard
<br /> signage along Highway 371 on City property. A Public Hearing will be held at the
<br /> October 19 Planning Commission meeting, a draft amendment will be presented
<br /> to the Planning Commission in November and their recommendation will go to
<br /> the Council in December.

<br /> Outdoor Advertising submitted proposed sign locations also on City owned
<br /> property south of the Industrial Park, which are attached. Franklin Outdoor
<br /> Advertising provided the attached table outlining local ordinance requirements.
<br /> Applicable Regulations: Currently "Offsite Signs" are not allowed. Staff has
<br /> prepared an ordinance amendment that would exclude "public use" in the Light
<br /> Industrial zone. The underlined text is the proposed language to be added. The
<br /> s�r•�l��e�gl�language is proposed to be removed.
