-� t LA __7 POLICE 218.568.8111 Fax 218.568.5647 pllpd9_pequotlakes- mn.gov www.pequotlakes -mn. gov DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES: Eric Mang Chief of Police 4638 County Road 11 Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 • The Echo and Eighth Grade Teachers were notified of an essay contest for 8t' Graders entitled "Cool Technology Tools: How Do I Use Them for Good ?" Our department is part- sponsor of the contest. The contest asks youth to examine their individual, moral compass for how they can use personal phones and computers in constructive ways. This is a 500 -word essay and there will be 37 awards of $100 each awarded statewide. • Chief Klang spoke at the Veteran's Day Observance at the Jenkins VFW November 11. • Chief Klang spoke to the 8ffi Grade Career Development class November 29h. The Bear Den Scouts visited the Police Department November 16 for a tour. Chief Klang shared with them how to become a police officer, mandatory training and arresting bad guys. He took finger prints from some of the Scouts and explained how finger prints can be used to catch bad guys. He also touched base on DNA and shared how bad guys can be caught using this method. The Scouts also were able to explore two squad cars and were especially interested in the back seats. • The Officers and Staff continue to strive to work together to keep the department efficient.
