Our department is part- sponsor of the <br />contest. The contest asks youth to examine their individual, moral compass for how they can use <br />personal phones and computers in constructive ways. This is a 500 -word essay and there will be <br />37 awards of $100 each awarded statewide. <br />• Chief Klang spoke at the Veteran's Day Observance at the Jenkins VFW November 11. <br />• Chief Klang spoke to the 8ffi Grade Career Development class November 29h. <br />The Bear Den Scouts visited the Police Department November 16 for a tour. Chief Klang shared <br />with them how to become a police officer, mandatory training and arresting bad guys. He took <br />finger prints from some of the Scouts and explained how finger prints can be used to catch bad <br />guys. He also touched base on DNA and shared how bad guys can be caught using this method. <br />The Scouts also were able to explore two squad cars and were especially interested in the back <br />seats. <br />• The Officers and Staff continue to strive to work together to keep the department efficient. <br />TRAINING: <br />• Officer Petersen, online courses sponsored by the Department of Public Safety and in cooperation <br />with Alexandria Technical & Community College, Radio 101 and Interoperability, November 5; <br />• Officer Hogan, online courses sponsored by the Department of Public Safety and in cooperation <br />with Alexandria Technical & Community College, Radio 101 and Interoperability, November 12; <br />• Officer Petersen, Toward Zero Death Conference, Duluth, November 15 — 17. <br />• Officer Gartner, online courses sponsored by the Department of Public Safety and in cooperation <br />with Alexandria Technical & Community College, Radio 101 and Interoperability, History of <br />ARMER, November 22; <br />
