Ms. Bittner confirmed that the property is now zoned rural residential. Council Member Akerson stated that he has a problem with landowners who want to remove trees from their property but the City is telling them they can't without paying a permit fee. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO NOT ASSESS A PENALTY FEE TO DONALD RESCHKE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-1. MAYOR ADAMS OPPOSED. Council Member Pederson inquired whether there has ever been a case when someone had not been penalized after-the-fact. Dawn Bittner stated she was not aware if this. 7. Fire 8. Police The June 2017 Police Department Report was received by Council. 8.1. Police-School Liaison Officer Agreement Nancy Malecha informed the Council that the 2017-2018 Police-School Liaison Officer Agreement is the same as last year's agreement. The amount of the contract remains the same as the previous year due to budget constraints the School is experiencing. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE 2017-2018 POLICE-SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $36,000. COUNCIL MEM�ER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 8.2. ReQuest to Hire Part-Time Officer Nancy Malecha requested Council authorization to hire Kristle Peltier as a part time police officer to fill vacant shifts and help with special events. Ms. Malecha explained the Police Department is having difficulty finding part time officers to fill shifts due to other commitments they may have. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING OF KRISTLE PELTIER AS A PART-TIME OFFICER CONTINGENT UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL PRE-EMPLOYMENT
