Comprehensive Plan <br />Chuck Marohn explained that the Planning Commission is recommending <br />that the Council approve the Comprehensive Plan. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO ADOPT THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Ryan indicated that he has a couple of major issues with <br />plan as it portrays the concept of the City. Council Member Akerson <br />indicated that the plan does not address the commercial use of the <br />highway and indicated that the signage ordinances are way too restrictive. <br />Mayor Adams asked if there was anything in the plan that Council Member <br />Akerson agreed with. Council Member Akerson stated that he agrees with <br />the introduction. <br />Planning Commission Chair Scott Pederson stated that the Planning <br />Commission has met with many groups over the last 21 months to revise <br />the comp plan. He indicated that some of the groups they have met with <br />are the Economic Development Commission, the Park Commission, the <br />Chamber, and business owners. Scott Pederson requested Council <br />Members Ryan and Akerson to highlight areas in the plan that they do not <br />agree with so the Planning Commission can discuss the issues of <br />concern. <br />Chuck Marohn stated that he would be willing to set up meetings with <br />residents that have concerns about the plan to discuss their concerns and <br />to determine if accommodations can be made to the plan. Chuck Marohn <br />also offered to meet with Council Member Ryan and Council Member <br />Akerson to address their concerns. Cheri Seils, Planning Commission <br />Member, stated that if there are specific portions of the comp plan that <br />Council Members Ryan and Akerson object to, they need to relay these <br />issues to the Planning Commission so that they can review it. Ms. Seils <br />stated that the Planning Commission has tried to listen to the community <br />while working on the Comp Plan update. She further stated that it would <br />be helpful to the Planning Commission to be able to address specific <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO TABLE THE MOTION TO A FUTURE <br />DATE. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5 -0. <br />Scott Pederson asked the Council to give direction to the Planning <br />Commission. He also requested Council Members Ryan and Akerson to <br />get their concerns to the Planning Commission. <br />`.. The Mayor suggested holding off on the Comp Plan for a couple of <br />months to give Council Members Ryan and Akerson time to put their <br />concerns on paper. <br />
