Pequot Lakes Police Monthly Report Julv 2017: During the month ofJuly(1�-31�), the Pequot Lakes Police Department has a record of 526 calls for service. Call types include but are not limited to: • Alarm • Animal Complaint • Driving Complaint • Fireworks • Property Damage Accident • Theft Notable Calls: On 7/10/17, Officer Ryan Franz responded to a report of a driving complaint. Caller reported to dispatch that there was a reckless driver swerving all over the road, nearly hitting the ditch and at one point was driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Officer Franz located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. With back-up from Reserve Captain Eric Anderley, Officer Franz arrested the driver without incident for gross misdemeanor 3rd degree DWI.The vehicle is currently pending forfeiture. On 7/12/17, OfFicer Matt Jorgens initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for fail to signal a turn and items obstructing the driver's view. Upon making contact with the driver, he observed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and noted the driver appeared to be under the influence. After conducting a search of the vehicle, OfFicer Jorgens arrested the young male driver for felony 5th degree controlled substance.The vehicle, as well as cash and a watch, are pending forFeiture. TZD (Towards Zero Deaths): During the month of July, officers and deputies from multiple agencies in Crow Wing County participated in special shifts in response to more traffic being on Minnesota roadways during the summer months. During these shifts, officers have an objective to issue citations for speed and seatbelt violations as well as arrest drivers for DWI. Pequot Lakes Officers Jorgens, Fyle and Franz participated in these shifts on 7/1�, 14th and 21n. Between these three officers,they worked just over 31 hours, in addition to their regularly scheduled 40 hours a week. On 7/1/17, Officer Matt Jorgens initiated a trafFic stop on a vehicle for speed as part of a TZD shift. This stop resulted in the driver being arrested for driving after cancellation, no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
