PEQUOT LAKES COMMUNITY LIBRARY ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY
SALE OF WITHDRAWN LIBRARY MATERIALS
Responsibility: Materials Coordinator
Confirmed: June 20,2017
The Library has the authority (Minnesota. Statutes, 1996: 15.054 and 375.75) to sell items which
have been declared surplus. The Library follows the esta.blished legal procedures for the sale of
surplus materials; Library-owned materials may not be sold any other way.
Library materials are withdrawn for a variety of reasons: damaged materials and dated information
are the most common. These materials are made available for sale through the Library sales, but
the Library is not responsible for notifying potential buyers of the specific reasons for their sale.
The Library sells its withdrawn materials continually and does not attempt to remove all library
identification from them. The Library cannot restrict the secondary sale of former library books.
There will be no special accommodations for volunteers and any violation of this will result in
disciplinary action.
Unsold books are the responsibility of the Library unless the sale is conducted by another
organization(i.e. Friends of the Library).
25
