City Council Minutes <br /> August 1, 2017 <br /> Page 5 of 8 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Council Member Akerson inquired about the zoning of this property. Ms. <br /> Bittner confirmed that the property is now zoned rural residential. Council <br /> Member Akerson stated that he has a problem with landowners who want <br /> to remove trees from their property but the City is telling them they can't <br /> without paying a permit fee. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO NOT ASSESS A PENALTY <br /> FEE TO DONALD RESCHKE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PLANNING <br /> COMMISSION. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-1. MAYOR ADANtS OPPOSED. <br /> Council Member Pederson inquired whether there �tas ever been a case <br /> when someone had not been penalized after-the-fact. Dawn Bittner stated <br /> she was not aware if this. <br /> 7. Fire <br /> 8. Police <br /> The June 2017 Police Department Report was �eceived by Council. <br /> 8.1. Police-School Liaison Officer Agreemertt <br /> Nancy Malecha informed the Council that the 2017-2018 Police-School <br /> Liaison Officer Agreement is the same as last year's agreement. The <br /> amount of the contract remains the sar�e as the previous year due to <br /> budget constraints the School is experiencing. <br /> COCINCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE 2017-2018 <br /> POLICE-SCH04L LIAtSOIV OFFICER AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT <br /> OF $36,000. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE <br /> MOTLON. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 8.2. Request�v Hire Part-Time Officer <br /> Nancy Malecha requested Council authorization to hire Kristle Peltier as a <br /> part time police officer to fill vacant shifts and help with special events. Ms. <br /> Malecha explained the Police Department is having difficulty finding part <br /> time officers to fill shifts due to other commitments they may have. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING <br /> OF KRISTLE PELTIER AS A PART-TIME OFFICER CONTINGENT <br /> UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL PRE-EMPLOYMENT <br />
