City Council Minutes <br /> December 3,2007 <br /> Page 2 of 9 <br /> `� ---------------------------- <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> Jay Kline from Kline Funeral Home questioned if the City could take over <br /> Lilac Street for maintenance purposes. Mayor Malecha indicated that <br /> Lilac Street is owned by a private entity and the owner would need to <br /> petition the City for takeover. Mr. Kline questioned why there is not a stop <br /> sign on Lilac Street. Mike Loven indicated that MnDOT will not erect a <br /> stop sign because it is not a City street. <br /> 5. Presentations <br /> 5.1. Crow Winq Countv Sheriff's Department <br /> Chief Deputy Debi Backdahl was present and encouraged police <br /> departments and community members to utilize the Sheriff s <br /> Department and keep the lines of communication open. Ms. <br /> Backdahl gave a brief overview of several campaigns the <br /> Sheriff's Department is involved with such as, Safe and Sober, <br /> `-- NiteCap, HEAT, See Motorcycles, Crow Wing County DUI Task <br /> Force, and Neighborhood Watch. <br /> 5.2. Reqion 5 Development Commission <br /> Cheryal Hills and Neal Linscheid from Region 5 presented the <br /> Pequot Lakes Intercept Survey results. The results were based on <br /> the following three surveys: intercept survey, business survey, and <br /> area residents survey. Council Member Oraskovich thanked the <br /> Brainerd Lakes Chamber and Region 5 for the information on the <br /> report. <br /> 5.3. Chamber of Commerce <br /> Ruth Ann Hanson and members of the Pequot Lakes/Breezy Point <br /> Advisory Committee were present. Ms. Hanson discussed the <br /> following regarding TH 371. <br /> • Construction uncertainty <br /> • Overpasses <br /> • Neighboring communities <br /> • Long term cost <br /> • Long term safety <br /> `-� • Visibility of businesses <br />
