Malecha, Council Members Oraskovich, Sjoblad, and <br /> Nagel ' <br /> Members Absent: Council Member Ryan <br /> Staff Present: Nancy Malecha, Deputy City Clerk; Dawn Bittner, Zoning <br /> Administrator; Mike Loven, Maintenance Supervisor; Jerry Braam, <br /> . Police Chief; Tom Nelson, Fire Chief; Mike Rude, City Engineer <br /> 1. Call Meetinq to Order <br /> Mayor Malecha called the Truth in Taxation Hearing to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> 2. Truth in Taxation <br /> Mayor Malecha presented the budget and levy information for the Truth In <br /> Taxation hearing. Mayor Malecha opened the meeting to public comment. <br /> Jack Schmidt, Pequot Lakes, questioned why the police department budget has <br /> �-- increased $100,000 in two years and does the City need six full-time officers, two <br /> part-time officers, and six police vehicles. Mr. Schmidt would like to see more <br /> involvement from the County. Police Chief Braam informed Mr. Schmidt of the <br /> following factors affecting the police department's budget: population increase <br /> during summer months, handling 5,000 ICRs per year, police officers <br /> involvement in the community, 30% of the police budget offset by outside <br /> revenues, squads taken home for emergency responses. <br /> 3. Adiournment <br /> There being no further public comments, COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD <br /> MOVED TO ADJOURN THE TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING. COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION.
