Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair Jurchen at 8:00 a.m. <br /> <br />2. Approve EDC Minutes <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER LINDHOLM MOVED TO APPROVE THE MAY 16, 2017 <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MINUTES. <br />COMMISSIONER RIECK SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED <br />5-0. <br /> <br />3. Fiber Optic Construction – Directive from Council <br /> <br />Commissioner Lindholm reported the City Council was receptive with the <br />information provided at the June 6th Council meeting regarding fiber in the Business <br />Park. The Council directed the EDC to obtain one or two additional bids and to look <br />into any available grants. Their third directive was to verify the upload/download <br />speed is adequate. <br /> <br />Bob Perkins stated corporate had revised their proposal of the City’s aid to <br />construction amount at $49,000, plus or minus 20%. Mr. Perkins stated the $49,000 <br />aid to construction amount included future development of the new Park. <br /> <br />David Heyer, DEED Representative, stated the Business Park would qualify for their <br />border-to-border broadband development grant program. Applications will be <br />available July 3rd and are due September 11th for broadband projects. It is important <br />for the City to be in partnership with the provider doing the project, TDS, CTC or <br />Charter. Applications are ranked according to need and dollar amount. <br /> <br />Mr. Heyer explained there are two types of grants: BDPI program, which is the <br />Greater Minnesota Business Development Infrastructure Grant Program, and the <br />Innovative Business Development Public Infrastructure Program. The BDPI would <br />be for innovative, high tech public infrastructure for a new Business Park. The State <br />would help pay 50% of new infrastructure. The Innovative Business Development
