Revised 12.22.16 Pequot Lakes Thriving Communities Initiative Promising Goals and Projects The next three pages list key strategies to be considered by the community in the coming years as a result of the Thriving Communities Initiative program. Going forward, decisions on which item to address will be selected by the taskforce participants after considering their interests, urgency due to other competing factors, availability of resources (time, money, networks, etc.), and the amount of time necessary to complete. We encourage each team to identify a quick win to maintain the energy and enthusiasm currently in the community as well as a longer-term project. Each item listed would necessitate 1) An inventory of existing resources, 2) Identification of the gaps/needs, and 3) Discussions within the taskforce and community of the best approach to address these needs which may include enhancing partnerships, completing projects and/or developing events/programs. Layout of Documents - Items listed have been divided into three main categories (separate pages): Economy, Quality of Life and Workforce which will become the three taskforces. Some work may affect two or more categories, necessitating communication across taskforces. - Items below were identified by the core team and participants at the community meeting in Nov. 2016. - The number of times each item was mentioned during the community meeting is indicated in the parenthesis ( ). - The order of the items reflects the priority identified by the core team members. - We suggest, exploring the top three items in 2017; although other lower priority items may tie into the projects listed previously. - Connect to the community volunteer list and other resources to help complete items. Don’t forget to celebrate successes along the way!
