Peqtuot
Lakes—
Monthly Report
Planning & Zoning Department
October, 2011
Land Use Permits:
There were no Land Use Permits processed in October.
* * * Permit applications through September, 2011 are 51, compared with 51 for 2010,
59 for 2009, 83 for 2008, 100 for 2007, 98 for 2006, 128 for 2005 and 120 for 2004!
Subsurface Sewage Treatment Systems (SSTS) Permits:
There were two SSTS Designs received in October, resulting in $400.00
collected for Permit and Inspection fees.
Meetings Attended:
`.- • October 4 — City Council Meeting;
• October 11 — Monthly Budget Meeting;
• October 11 — SSTS Inspection;
• October 18 — Economic Development Committee Meeting;
• October 20 — Planning Commission Meeting;
• October 24 — Two Onsite Visits;
Notes:
✓ FEMA's Flood Insurance Program - FEMA recently held a public Flood
Risk Information Open House for communities throughout Crow Wing County
where they presented updated flood risk data and maps. Tim Houle, City
Engineer, and I did not find any discrepancies with their preliminary maps. The
City will need to support FEMA for residents to have the ability to obtain their
flood insurance at much lower rates than private insurance companies. There is
no fee for this support; the City will need to pass an ordinance preventing
property owners from building within floodplain/high risk zones. Additional
information will be provided after the final maps are received.
Completed October 25, 2011
