Lets grog! <br />Mayor Nancy Adams <br />Pequot Lakes City Council & ED Committee <br />4638 County Road 11 <br />Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 <br />RE: BLAEDC 2012 Funding Support <br />Dear Mayor Adams, City Council and ED Committee Members, <br />The Brainerd Lakes Area Economic Development Corporation is a private, non - profit economic development <br />organization that has been working in the community since the mid - eighties with a mission to grow and <br />expand the area's economic base and create jobs for area residents, Today, BLAEDC has three staff members <br />with an annual budget of approximately $269,000. BLAEDC services include: <br />• Position the Area for Growth by Creating a Positive Business Environment and a Can -Do Attitude <br />• Business Retention and Expansion Programs <br />• Entrepreneurial and Business Start Up Initiatives <br />• Targeted Marketing Efforts to Attract Business <br />• Coordination of Community Development Initiatives <br />• Assist and Coordinate Economic Development Business Projects: <br />• Assistance with Site Location <br />• Financial Structure and Package Programs <br />• Technical and Business Planning Assistance <br />• Assistance with Government Resources and Processes <br />The organizations efforts have included coordinating and facilitating more than 350 projects that have resulted <br />in $310 million dollars in capital investments and more than 3,800 jobs. As you know, BLADC's success is due <br />to governmental units working in partnership with private business toward a brighter economic future for our <br />area. <br />Recognizing that you are a t the stage of considering your 2012 budget, we respectfully request that you <br />continue your support to BLAEDC at the 2011 level of $6,750. ($6,150 for BLAEDC operations + $600 for 2020 <br />Marketing Programs = $6,750) <br />Please advise if you would like BLAEDC representatives to meet with you to discuss our funding request.
