Pequot Lakes Police Monthly Report May 2017: During the month of May(1St-31St),the Pequot Lakes Police Department has a record of 396 calls for service. Call types include but are not limited to: • 911 Hang Up • Alarm • Damage To Property • Disturbance • Driving Complaint • Domestic • Drug Information • Ems (medicals) • Fight • Intoxicated Person • Motorist Assist • Property Damage Accident • Shooting Complaint • Suicidal Person • Suspicious Activity, Person &Vehicle • Theft • Welfare Check Notable Calls: On 5/9/2017 at approximately midnight, Officer Ryan Franz initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for inoperable headlight and crossing the fog line. The suspect vehicle, 1976 orange Chevy Corvette,fled at a high rate of speed.After a short pursuit, an officer from another agency successfully removed the vehicle from the roadway via a PIT(precision immobilization technique) maneuver. After the vehicle came to a stop,the suspect was Tasered due to his non- compliance of verbal commands. He was then taken into custody and transported to the hospital for medical clearance before he was taken to jail. It was later discovered that the suspect had stolen the vehicle from his girlfriend's father. On 5/27/2017, Officer Steve Emerson was enjoying lunch at Dairy Queen when he recognized a male in a Chevy Blazer in the drive thru,who was known to have an active felony warrant for his arrest. Officer Emerson acted quickly to follow the suspect vehicle. After attempting to stop the vehicle,the driver fled before stopping and fleeing on foot through a swampy area. With the help of a Crow Wing County deputy, his K9 partner and the Minnesota State Patrol Helicopter,the male was later apprehended and taken into custody without incident.
