AGENDA ITEM # 6.2Pett ?__ -
Lakes
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Dawn Bittner
Date: July 6, 2017
Subject: Rezone Request
Report: Dennis Reschke owns a 39.77 acre parcel and
would like to harvest the timber to improve the health of
the forest. Timber harvesting, or "Vegetation Removal,
Intensive", is not allowed in the Shoreline Residential zone.
The Planning Commission unanimously recommends the
City Council rezone this parcel to Rural Residential, based
on the following 14 Findings of Fact:
1. The applicant is proposing to rezone the property located along County
Road 107 from"Shoreline Residential"to "Rural Residential."
2. The subject property does contain a wetland and is part of East Twin Lake.
3. The applicant is the property owner and the property owner intends to
apply for a Forest Management Plan to harvest the timber on the subject
property.
4. The subject property is within the Shoreland Area and no Shoreland soil
types have been identified.
5. The vegetative cover of the subject property consists of trees and grasses.
6. The subject property is adjacent to a public water body. "In-water physical
characteristics"and recreational use of surface water do apply.
7. The subject property has sufficient frontage adjacent to County Road 107.
8. The proposed rezoning does not increase the socio-economic development
needs of the public.
