City Council Minutes <br /> May 2, 2017 <br /> Page 7 of 8 <br /> 10.3. John Hancock 457(b) Plan <br /> Nancy Malecha informed the Council that since 2004 the City has offered <br /> a 457(b) deferred compensation plan for employees to contribute funds. <br /> In an effort to update the participation agreement from the Voya Financial <br /> 457(b) Plan to the John Hancock 457(b) Plan, a resolution is needed. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 17- <br /> 15 APPROVING THE JOHN HANCOCK 457(b) PLAN. COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED <br /> 5-0. <br /> 10.4. Local Decision-Making Authority Resolution <br /> Nancy Malecha explained the League of Minnesota Cities has drafted a <br /> resolution regarding the rapid increase of 2017 legislative initiatives aimed <br /> at restricting local decision-making authority. Some of these initiatives <br /> relate to constraining local law enforcement authority, restricting a city's <br /> ability to set local ordinances, allowing certain businesses unrestricted <br /> access to public right of ways, and restricting a city's ability to use allowed <br /> fee structures. She asked if the Council would like to consider adopting <br /> this resolution supporting local decision making authority to send to area <br /> legislators. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION <br /> 17-16 SUPPORTING LOCAL DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY. <br /> MAYOR ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 11. Other Business <br /> There was no other business. <br /> 12. Adjournment <br /> There being no further business, COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON <br /> MOVED TO ADJOURN. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> The meeting of the City Council adjourned at 7:25 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br />
