POLICE <br />218.568.8111 <br />Fax 218.568.5647 <br />plpd a pequotlakes- mn.eov <br />INCIDENT REPORTS: <br />re n <br />www.pequotlakes -mn. gov <br />Report to City Council <br />October 4, 2011 Meeting <br />Eric Kiang <br />Chief of Police <br />4638 County Road 11 <br />Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 <br />• During August the Reserve Unit conducted 83 individual security checks of businesses with no <br />open doors found; <br />• During August the Department logged 196 individual ICR's. <br />• To date, the Department has logged 130 individual ICR's for September. <br />DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES: <br />• Taste of Pequot September 17 — There were many visitors to the area with no incidents. <br />• United Way Chili Cook -Off — Chief Klang was invited to be a Judge for the annual Chili Cook - <br />Off at the Westgate Mall raising funds for the United Way. <br />• The Reserve Unit assisted with foot patrol at Pequot Lakes High School Football Games. <br />• The Reserve Unit assisted with the 8th Grade Bike Trip from the High School to Nisswa City Park <br />and back September 23. There were no problems. <br />PROJECTS: <br />Child Passenger Safety Week was September 18 — 24. The Police Department ramped up efforts <br />to target parents who didn't properly restrain their children. <br />Chief Klang developed a 90 -Day Action Plan for his transition into the Department. After <br />meeting with City Staff, elected officials and stakeholders in the community, a Staff Meeting was <br />held including all personnel in the Police Department. In the weeks ahead, he plans to develop <br />short-term and long range strategic plans. <br />Staff is updating forms and procedures for the Department. <br />TRAINING: <br />• Josh Herold, Juvenile Crimes & Investigations in Walker, September 22; <br />• Chad Nangle and Kate Petersen, SFST Refresher in Elk River, September 27; <br />• Chad Nangle, DNA Evidence Training, September 29 — 30 in Willmar. <br />Completed September 27, 2011 <br />
