Sandy Peine
From: Akerson, Jerry Qerry.akerson @tdsmetro.com]
Sent: Tuesday, October 04, 2011 1:37 PM
To: Sandy Peine
Subject: levy
Pequot Lakes City Council
2011 levy $ 1,479,000.00
Tax abatement -$ 28,526.00
2012 levy $ 1,450,474.00 = 0% increase
Each department affecting the levy should be responsible for making cuts where applicable.
I have already outlined possible cuts for P &Z that add up to $14,000 and presented them at Aug. meeting and to
my way of thinking we could even cut more from that department based on performance and workload, another $
14,000. These are decisions that won't be easy but I believe that we as a council have to recognize what is going on
around us and act accordingly. All the towns around us set preliminary budgets at 0% increase. What do they
know that we don't ? This is a starting point for me, and I will not support any increases to the above figure for
2012 levy, and would even like to see that figure lowered) l l l l I encourage this council to support this
recommendation and send our levy back to the committee and the respective supervisors.
Jerry Akerson
Councilor
10/4/2011
