Other Business Skate Park: Chair Ronning explained after receiving written requests for a Skate Park, a Sub- Committee had met with some parents and kids to ascertain how much interest there was. There is a lot of interest; the School Principal took an unofficial survey of who was interested and approximately 200 kids raised their hand. There have been 3 meetings and the group is discussing designs. The designs will be posted at the Library and comments will be collected. The next step is to gather information from the comments and see what can be done for funding. Their preferred location is the south end of the City Hall parking lot. Other locations include the Baptist Church parking lot, Moberg properties south of the former spray irrigation field and Gildner Park. The area needed is 100' X 100'. The group is aware the City is not going to fund this; the City cannot solicit funds. Crosby is the closest skate park and they have said the location next to the Police Station is ideal. COMMISSIONER NAGEL MOVED TO NOTIFY THE CITY COUNCIL THAT THE PARK COMMISSION SUPPORTS A SKATE PARK CONCEPT CONTINGENT THERE IS NO CITY FUNDING INVOLVED, OTHER THAN ONGOING MAINTENANCE. COMMISSIONER JURCHEN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. Member Vacancy: Chair Ronning informed the Commissioner Billie Jean Caouette had resigned due to family obligations. If any Commissioners know of someone interested in serving, have them fill out an application and submit to City Hall.
