Pequot Lakes Community Library <br />Minutes to Meeting of Board of Directors <br />August 16, 2011 <br />Chairman John Longnecker brought the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />Present: Board members John Longnecker, Claire Nagel, Jean Clark, Shirley Johnson, <br />Lydia Loven, Sam Hennies. Also present: Harry Olson, visitor, and Jerry Akerson, <br />liaison to city council. <br />Absent: David Anderson. <br />Lydia Loven, seconded by Sam Hennies, approved the minutes of meeting of July 19, <br />2011. <br />In the absence of treasurer David Anderson, John presented treasurer's report. The <br />balance of the loan from John Larsen Foundation has been paid in full. Suggestion was <br />made to pay Tom Adams $2,000 of the balance owed him. Motion made by Lydia Loven, <br />seconded by Claire Nagel. Money will be taken from the Building Fund checking account <br />for this. Sam Hennes, seconded by Shirley Johnson, accepted the treasurer's report. <br />President's report: <br />As to furniture for the library, a suggestion has been made to provide a changing table for <br />diaper changing. John found one on the Internet for $180. He will find out other options <br />and report next month. <br />The Basket Auction and Social Evening will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from <br />6 -9 p.m. at Deacon's Lodge. Claire will print tickets. <br />John sent his "Miracle" article to Lake Country Journal for possible publication. He's had <br />no response from them yet. <br />Painting project: <br />The cleaning is finished. The gable ends of the building are cleaned and painted. Nancy <br />Adams is almost finished with painting the shutters. Teen Challenge will paint the lower <br />outside walls sometime during the first week of September. <br />Public Programs: <br />We've had no Kitchigami programs for several months. It was mentioned that we need a <br />person to be in charge of these programs. Jean Clark accepted this responsibility. <br />Lydia Loven coordinates programs sponsored by our own library, with posters printed by <br />Shirley Johnson. <br />Harry Olson brought a layout of the new library sign from Sign Spot of Brainerd. Mr. <br />Olson has offered to pay for the sign. Lydia Loven made a motion to accept the sign <br />layout and Harry's proposal to pay for it. Seconded by Jean Clark. Unanimous approval. <br />Saturday Book Sales at Jack Pine Center are going well and will continue at least through <br />Labor Day weekend. <br />Adjournment motion made by Sam Hennies at 7:45 p.m. Seconded by Jean Clark. <br />
