4. Community Policing & Crime Reduction;
5. Training & Education; and
6. Officer Wellness & Safety.
This training is total immersion with classes held Monday
through Friday from 0730 to 1700, with the exception of
holidays. The benefits from this academic experience will
trickle down to the officers and community in many
positive ways. Chief Klang humbly asks for approval to
attend this Academy, as it is a great honor not just for him
but for the community.
During Chief Klang's absence, Sgt. Chad Turcotte will be
appointed Acting Chief ensuring that daily operations run
smoothly. With today's technology, Chief Klang will be
reachable should a situation arise. The office is currently at
full staff and part time officers will be utilized on a limited
basis, approximately once a week, to cover shifts.
Council Action Requested: Council motion authorizing
Chief Eric Klang to attend the FBI's National Academy
from October through December 2017 and to appoint
Sergeant Chad Turcotte as Acting Chief during his absence
with a potential pay increase.
