Council Report — Budget
August 9, 2011
--------------------------- - - - - --
Beginning in 2012, an additional tax abatement levy of
$28,526 is also included for the SuperValu Grocery Store
project.
Notes
1. The budgets reflect a 1.25% wage increase for all
employees. Per the union agreement, union employees will
receive a 1/2 step increase in 2012 (1.25 %). Also included
are wage increases for employees whose job points
changed per the 8 -2 -11 council meeting. The decision
regarding non -union employees wage increases will be
determined by the City Council. Once this has been
determined, the Council will need to specify whether it is a
cost of living increase and/or a step increase.
2. We will not know how the levy totals will affect the
City's tax rates until mid to late September. This
information is provided by the County.
Council Action Requested: Council direction regarding
amendments to the attached budgets. Staff will then make
the amendments and bring the budgets back to the Council
on September 6th for a final review prior to setting the
preliminary levy. The preliminary tax levy must be set by
September 15. This number can be decreased but not
increased prior to setting the final levy.
