City of
Pequot
Lakes= -
MEMORANDUM
To: Mayor and City Council Members
From: Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
Date: January 26, 2017
Re: Street Quadrant Improvements
The Planning Commission met for their regular monthly meeting January 19th and per
City Council request, offer the following comments/suggestions for street improvements
in the designated street quadrant.
North half of South Washington Avenue: The first block south of County Road 11 should
have a similar theme as North Washington including sidewalks, street lighting, diagonal
parking and 9-foot driving lanes. A one-way street may not work.
South half of South Washington Avenue: This block can be left as is;the City should
wait to see what the traffic patterns are after the highway is completed. Topography is
an issue.
Government Drive: Improvements should mirror the north half of this section; street
lights should be included. Topography is an issue. The type of parking should be
determined when traffic flows have been established.
East Woodman Street: This could be a pedestrian connection to the school area. Street
lighting and sidewalk should be included.
Old Highway 371: The north segment,from Main Street to East Woodman Street,
should have parallel parking with street lights and sidewalk.
Old Highway 371: The south segment,from East Woodman Street south to Tree Farm
Road, should have a sidewalk or path on the west side of the street with no street
lighting.
The following are general comments made during discussion of this street quadrant.
• Expansion and improvements are being planned for Trailside Park. Those
improvements should be considered while discussing improvements to this street
quadrant;
1
