PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />MINUTES OF THE JUNE 1, 2011 MEETING <br />The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 14 members <br />were present. The minutes of the last meeting were not read by a motion by Peterson II, <br />second by Oaks, motion passed. <br />Truck and equipment checks were discussed. All the trucks were good tonight. The new <br />dump tank is here for Tanker 1 but the new rack for the truck is not here yet. The <br />sequencer for the emergency lights on Rescue 1 is not working. <br />The financial report is that the fire budget balance is about $98,000 at this time. Our new <br />checking balance tonight is $9504.82. During the month we deposited 263.60 as a <br />reimbursement from the City and 130.00 from tee shirt sales and donations. We should <br />also be getting a check from Pequot Super Valu for helping with hot dog and brat sales at <br />their store. We paid 49.62 for pop and water, 115.92 for food for positive pressure <br />training, 29.75 for food for auto extrication training, and 100.00 for donation for Pequot <br />grad blast. Our scholarship fund balance is $1851.65. Oaks motioned to approve the <br />financial report, second by Larson, motion passed. <br />The safety topic for tonight is the Crow Wing County fire chief's association had a <br />speaker at one of their recent meetings who did a great job speaking about safety. His <br />local department experienced a line of duty death of one of their members. We may try to <br />have him speak to our department. <br />The Pine River summer fest parade will be Saturday, June 25" at 2:00 pm. We need <br />drivers for any vehicles we take to the parade. <br />The safety program for kids will be Wednesday, June 8`" from 8:30 to 11:30 am. There <br />were several fire fighters who said they could help. <br />There will be a hall clean-up meeting to prepare for the 4`h of July breakfast on <br />Wednesday, June 29th at 6:30 pm. This is a regular training meeting night as it is a fifth <br />Wednesday of the month. <br />Bill and Daren will be responsible for our pancake breakfast supplies. The problem with <br />the freezer last year was someone turned off the breaker. <br />We will do the July 3rd fire fighter rodeo this year to keep active in our community. We <br />should practice for the water ball keg and also plan where to set up so nobody gets <br />flooded by the water. <br />We received the official denial letter from FEMA for our grant application for 2010. <br />
