BLAEDC Update <br /> No update. <br /> 9. City of Jenkins Update <br /> Commissioner Lubke noted that Jenkins is working on ingress and egress issues with <br /> MnDOT and frontage and backage roads are being constructed as part of the Highway 371 <br /> Expansion Project. <br /> (Commissioner Sjoblad arrived at the meeting.) <br /> 4. Local Economic Area Report <br /> Justin Burslie, City Planner,was introduced to the Commission. <br /> a-c. Renters that Work in our Community,Actual Jobs,and Housing Data Statistics <br /> Sheila Haverkamp informed the Commission on employment,wages, and housing statistics <br /> for the Pequot Lakes area. She noted that Pequot Lakes has 120 companies in the City limits <br /> and these companies employ 1,415 people which is an increase of 15% from 2010-15. The <br /> annual average wage is approximately$40,000. <br /> Chair Jurchen stated that this is an important message to send out to the community who may <br /> only see empty store fronts. <br /> Ms. Haverkamp further explained the commuting patterns with 1,059 people employed in <br /> Pequot Lakes and of those 920 live outside the area while 139 live in the area. The statistics <br /> also illustrated that 822 people live in Pequot Lakes and of those 683 are employed outside <br /> the area while 139 are employed in the area. <br /> Ms. Haverkamp reviewed the housing profile with the Commission. Total housing units <br /> equate to 1,392 and of these 592 are owner occupied, 363 are renter occupied, and 437 are <br /> vacant due to seasonal homes. She further noted that the majority of the value in owner <br /> occupied housing units ranges from$100,000 - $199,999. <br /> Bob Perkins questioned if these statistics could be trended to take into consideration the <br /> seasonal flux that occurs in this area. Ms. Haverkamp stated that she will check into this. <br /> d. Planning for Strategic Residential/Commercial Development&Blighted Properties <br />
