Maintenance Department Monthly Report
June 2007
With the approval of the 2007 street improvement projects on May 10th, I
received a lot of calls from property owners concerned about construction,
length of construction, and the condition of their lawns when the project is
complete. We will be sending out a newsletter to all affected property
owners in hopes to alleviate some of the concerns and questions related to
the projects. We also held meetings with property owners that are involved
with construction easements.
A pre-construction meeting was held on May 24th with all contractors and
utilities involved with the project in attendance. With the costs coming in
lower than expected on all projects, we will be proposing additional work as
a change order. This will include two additional small projects which the
Council will review at the June 5th meeting.
During the week of May 21St we had meetings with Gopher-One
representative to discuss the installation of the second year of 911 signs
which will start on May 29th. All properties with structures should be
numbered within one more year.
With the installation of the elevator at Cole Memorial building the
construction project is almost complete. When the state inspects the elevator
the handicap ramp out front will be removed.
Meetings attended in May:
May 1 Trailside Estates Construction meeting
Joint Planning & Zoning/Council meeting regarding Hwy 371
Council meeting
May 3 City Safety meeting
May 9 Monthly Department budget meeting
07 street projects bid opening
May 10 Council Meeting - street project approval
Park Board
May 15 Trailside Estate construction meeting
May 23 MMUA Safety meeting at Grand Rapids
May 24 Pre construction 07 project meeting
