Projects Review <br /> Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association <br /> PROJECTS COMPLETED IN 2006 <br /> • Installed 14 interpretive panels at 13 locations <br /> • Completed and installed 4 informational panels for the Wetlands (Bog) Walk at <br /> Veterans Trail. This is the final phase of the $31,000 Bog Walk Project. <br /> • Third deck of playing cards, 'Explore the Lore- Paul Bunyan Characters' was <br /> completed in time for Christmas, 2005 <br /> • Participated in U of M, Central Region Partnership's Green Routes brochure <br /> development <br /> • Held a National Designation event in May,06, celebrating the Paul Bunyan <br /> Scenic Byway's newly awarded national designation and inclusion as one of <br /> America's Byways. <br /> • Awarded a federal grant of $31,250 for Sustainability Planning -Year 1. Work <br /> to begin mid-2007. Required local match of $6250. <br /> • Submitted application through the US Army Corps of Engineers for Handshake <br /> Program support of the local match for the Mailcarrier Interpretation project <br /> PROJECTS CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS <br /> Ongoing projects <br /> • Promotion of the Byway at local parades and community events <br /> - Byway's 'Paul Bunyan' <br /> - Byway float <br /> - Byway exhibits <br /> • Participating in state and national byway marketing efforts <br /> • Byway website, new information/photos are added as they are received <br /> • Inks linger newsletter <br /> • Soliciting media coverage for the Byway <br /> • Tear-off maps <br /> • Securing funding <br /> - Increasing membership <br /> - Inspiring donations <br /> - Promoting our Byway Foundation opportunities through Central MN Foundation <br /> • Seeking partnerships <br /> - Local jurisdictions, regional, state and national <br /> - Businesses <br /> - Organizations <br /> • Monitoring of the Byway's two guiding documents.
