June 5", 2011 <br />Mayor Nancy Adams <br />City of Pequot Lakes <br />4638 County Road 11 <br />Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 <br />Dear Mayor Adams and Council Members, <br />I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of our Planning and Zoning <br />Committee for their dedication to our community and the countless hours they contribute <br />on our behalf. They have a challenging task of balancing economic growth and personal <br />property rights with the preservation of our environment and aesthetics. It is also a task <br />that will inevitably result in disagreement. <br />The revised document of our Comprehensive Plan addresses various facets of that task <br />described above and establishes a general guideline for our regulations and ordinances. <br />The Comprehensive Plan is subject to change which may be necessary to respond to <br />future trends and needs of our community. Although some of us may not agree with all <br />aspects of the revised Plan, its design provides the encouragement for economic growth <br />within the framework ofpreserving our quality of life in our city. <br />I ask you to consider the approval of the Revised Comprehensive Plan which will allow <br />our city to move forward on various projects and planning within the scope of the <br />document. As with any plan, implementation will surface issues which may result in <br />consideration of necessary revisions. <br />Approval of our revised Comprehensive Plan will benefit our community by establishing <br />a shared vision for the growth and preservation of the quality of life for our city. It will <br />also communicate a positive message that we are ready to move forward with common <br />goals and a united leadership so vital in the challenging times ahead.
