Pequot Lakes Library Board Minutes <br /> Tuesday, August 17, 2004 <br /> �rhe monthly meeting of the Pequot Lakes Library Board was held on Tuesday, August, 17, 2004 at <br /> the Pequot Lakes Library. Those present: Dave Sjoblad, Lydia Loven, Sue Lenzen, Claire Nagel, <br /> Nancy Adams, Dave Anderson, Shari Wilson, and guests: Cathy Malecha and Arlene Rosemore. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:30 and the Minutes were accepted as read. Dave Anderson <br /> presented the Treasurer's Report, also accepted as read. <br /> Discussion was held concerning the status of Friends of the Library. Nancy Adams outlined the <br /> program to the Board. The Board asked Nancy to set-up this organization as to a Mission Statement <br /> of the group along with lists of projects, budget, responsibilites, etc. It was decided by the Board to <br /> give this group a percentage of the monies taken in for their projects. Nancy will report back to the <br /> Board with more from this group as it becomes organized. <br /> Nancy Adams gave a report on the Volunteer Services. From 6/29104 - 7127104, 958 volunteer hours <br /> have been recorded with 157 volunteers donating their time. From 713/04 - 7127/04, the library has <br /> recorded 648 patrons using the library which averages out to be 31 patrons a day. Nancy is in need <br /> of more typists to volunteer. <br /> Shari Wilson updated the artists schedule with the Board. Discussion was held as to keeping the <br /> artists work up longer than one month. It was decided to extend the monthly exhibits to a 2 month <br /> showing. Discussion was held concerning keeping the Library open on September 17th to <br /> accomodate the Sjodin family after the dedication of the garden to showcase Dru's artwork to friends <br /> and family. It was agreed by the Board to extend the hours for this one event. <br /> Claire Nagel discussed the upcoming article for the library. Dave Sjoblad will contact the Echo to <br /> have them do an article about the new Library. <br /> Lydia Loven updated the Board on the Saturday Storytime at the Library. She will continue to recruit <br /> volunteers. <br /> Cathy Malecha discussed the upcoming Craft Fair. Dave Sjoblad will contact Mary Etta Durham for <br /> the pies, there will be a book signing by Harry Olson, and sweatshirts for sale at our booth. <br /> Discussion was held to have another Book Sale over the Labor Day Weekend. The Library will <br /> schedule another sale for Friday, September 3, and Saturday, September 4 at the City Hall Garages. <br /> Arlene Rosemore addressed the Board as to a future fundraising event. She would like to donate a <br /> Harry Potter quilt to raffle off. Upon further discussion, she agreed to a Quilt Showing possibly at <br /> the new school as a Library Event. Sue Lenzen agreed to spearhead this project and report back to <br /> the Board. <br /> Dave Anderson reported on the Pledge Drive insert for the newspaper. It was decided by the Board <br /> to forego this project due to the high cost involved. <br /> Motion was made to adjourn the meeting, all ayes, motion passed. <br />
