SECTION 15 - City Responsibility <br /> The city reserves the right to restrict use to anyone for reasons they feel exceed <br /> the purpose of the water department. <br /> The city reserves the right to inspect any water service at any reasonable hour for <br /> violations or just to ascertain the proper operation thereof. If this inspection finds a <br /> violation of water use in any way or leaks in the customer line and failure to repair or <br /> correct any violation upon reasonable notice, the city may discontinue the service until the <br /> line is repaired and a reconnection fee is paid. The city shall also, at its discretion, be able <br /> to shut the water off immediately, repair the damage either on its own, or through a <br /> subcontractor, and bill the landowner for the cost of repair. <br /> SECTION 16—Tampering with a Water Meter <br /> Any person convicted of tampering with a water meter is guilty of a misdemeanor <br /> and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500 or imprisonment for not more than 90 <br /> days, or both, plus the costs of prosecution in either case. <br /> This ordinance becomes effective upon its adoption and publication according to <br /> the law and replaces all preceding or inconsistent ordinances. <br /> Adopted this 7 day of 2001 by the City Council of Pequot Lakes. <br /> .1171 <br /> Forbes H.
