ORDINANCE #194 <br /> AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE SNOW REMOVAL ON THE STREETS IN THE <br /> CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> WHEREAS, the Pequot Lakes Maintenance Department does remove snow from all <br /> city streets and roadways; and <br /> WHEREAS, parking spaces adjacent to the street should be cleared of snow; and <br /> WHEREAS, the presence of motor vehicles or other vehicles in the street and adjacent <br /> parking areas limits the ability of snow removal crews to evacuate snow in an efficient <br /> manner; and <br /> WHEREAS, snow removal on the city streets is done in the interest of public safety, <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES DOES HEREBY ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: DEFINITIONS <br /> A "Snow Emergency" shall be defined as the twenty-four (24) hour period following a <br /> snowfall accumulating to two (2) inches or more. In the event that a snow fall continues <br /> over an extended period of time, the snow emergency shall remain in effect until twenty- <br /> four (24) hours after the snow fall has stopped completely. <br /> The "Tow-Away Zone" shall be defined as that part of the street which is public <br /> property, whether or not it is blacktopped. <br /> SECTION 2: LIMITATIONS <br /> Vehicles shall not be permitted and must be removed from the tow-away zones <br /> between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. during a snow emergency. <br /> SECTION 3: REMEDY <br /> In the event vehicles are present in the tow-away zones during the hours of 2:00 a.m. <br /> and 8:00 a.m. in a snow emergency, the city maintenance personnel shall be authorized <br /> to have the vehicles towed to a storage site, to be chosen at the option of the city. <br /> The owner of the vehicle shall be responsible to claim the vehicle and pay all towing <br /> costs. <br /> SECTION 4: LIABILITY <br /> The City of Pequot Lakes shall not be liable for any damage to the vehicles caused by <br /> the towing of the vehicle. <br /> 1 <br />
